Resolutions.

This year I'm going to make resolutions I can actually keep.
Usually its something vague like be healthier.
Yes, I'm healthier in some ways but am I overall healthier?  Probably not.

Below are my practical 2015 resolutions:

1. Be happy and inspire others to smile more
*see link here and here

2. Workout more (2-3 times a week ideally)

3. Cook more with whole foods and eat fewer processed foods

4. Create more simplicity in my home

5. Clean under the bed more... and probably under the fridge. Gross.

7. Charge my Clarisonic and use it more
(why is it so hard to remember to charge that thing...)

8. Put more effort and action into my passions

9. Don't take things personally - it's time to toughen up!

10.  Simply enjoy this new year!

Happy 2015!

Winter Blues

This is one of my favorite color palettes ever.
I love the look of a soft grey blue wedding color scheme.
Magnolia, Winter Sage, and Hops all fit into this winter whimsical look.

What are your favorite winter blue pieces?

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.
Justin and I spent ours traveling to my hometown of
Gig Harbor and his home of Portland.
Family time is everything my heart desires during the holidays
so I got the perfect fix.  I hope yours was equally wonderful!

We Wish You a Merry Christmas!

I wish you all a wonderful start to your Christmas and holiday celebrations.
Justin and I are traveling around Washington and Oregon to spend
some quality time with our families.

I am looking forward to lounging in my new fleece tunic and
eating my mom's sugar cookies and sipping on wine.
I hope you get to do the same!

Merry Christmas xo

Red Wine + Hot Cocoa

This could be a great combo.

I'm not one to like a fruity/chocolate mix but
I might just have to try this.  You can find the recipe here.

I am a big hot cocoa fan (I put some in my coffee every morning)
and I do love red wine...

Its perfect for a cozy Friday night in.
Would you try this?  Or have you tried this?
I'd love to hear your opinion!

Flower School: Winter Sage

I love sage.  It makes a beautiful and aromatic fill
to any bouquet, centerpiece, and wreath.

Grand Marnier

This weekend I found a new love for Grand Marnier.
Its so delicious to sip on after dinner.  Yum.

Every Christmas my mom makes flambe with Orange Liqueur
so I did a little research and found some amazing recipes.
Now I need to take a trip to the store for a bottle...or two.

Featured above is a Coconut Fig Panna Cotta with Grand Marnier.
It looks pretty and I can only imagine how delicious this would be!

Also featured is a Grand Marnier souffleI want this right now please.

Do you have any recipes with Orange Liquor?

Grand Marnier Pancakes seem like the perfect holiday brunch item.

And this Lilikoi Margarita makes me think of beaches and all things tropical...
perfect for the dreary winter days after the holidays.

Clean Brushes

I will admit that I am not good at washing my makeup brushes.
Its not something I think about but I do realize how important it is.
So, this year one of my many resolutions is to wash my brushes more.
It also probably wouldn't hurt to buy new brushes ;)

Below are some products, ideas, and articles
on clean or in my case dirty makeup brushes.

- An article on Vogue about the ugly truth... guilty.

- This great tutorial on how to clean your brushes

- I need a fresh start.  This brush collection is high
on my wish list.  I'm a big Chanel makeup fan.

- This brush cleaner looks wonderful.

Are you guilty of not taking good care of your makeup brushes too?
If you're not - what products and techniques do you use?
xo happy Monday

Marsala

As you may already know Pantone picked their colors of the year
and I couldn't love them more.  My favorite of the bunch is Marsala.
Which one did you love most?

A Clean Start

Welcome to the new and improved Decor Amor!
This was quite the weekend.  It was full of heartbreak, love, and memories.
I have been toying with the idea of combining Decor Amor and A L P
for a while now but carrying all 600 posts with me from the past felt a little cluttered.
But then I woke up Saturday morning only to realize that 90% of my photos were gone.  Poof!
In one mistaken click of my mouse years and years and years of my work gone.
Heartbreak.

After a bottle of champagne I decided this was the blank slate I needed.
Thus the re-branding and reformatting of this blog all in one weekend.
It was so exhausting but more rewarding that I could ever have thought.

Even though I'm still upset to have all of my photos gone,
I am going to make the most of this and look forward to a fresh start.
Below are the blogging headers I used through the years
(and somehow managed to not disappear).  I hope you enjoy and
thank you all for joining me on this new adventure!

Wreaths, Garland, and a Tree

I love my little apartment a lot.
So decorating it for the holidays is something I look forward to all year long.
This weekend Justin and I are going to pick out a wreath, garland, and a small tree.

The photo above is not my apartment but it looks a little similar.
My favorite piece of Christmas decor is the fresh garland
I hang over the doorway into our breakfast nook just like the photo.

I hope to post some photos of festive apartment soon.

Flower School: Holly Berry

Holly berries add that perfect pop of red to a classic winter wedding bouquet.
They also make for beautiful centerpiece additions and cake decor.

Holly is available year round and has a vase life of around eight days.
You can learn more here.
You can purchase holly berries here.

Happy Wednesday.

Christmas Wish List

This year my wish list is a little practical.
Things that I can't justify splurging on myself but I could actually use.
Below are the links to everything on my wish list but more than anything
I want a joyous holiday season with my family and friends.
Its what matters most to me.
I hope you enjoy!

I'm not usually a watch person but this one is gorgeous!

2. This coral sweater is sure to brighten up a grey winter day

3. Slippers.  My feet get cold and these would be sure to keep them toasty.

4. A new hairdryer that won't dry my hair out.
I love my mom's and look forward to using it each time I visit home.

5. This colorful necklace is definitely on the top of my list.
I love everything about it!

6. A camel colored coat.  With a belt.
This one fits the exact description of what I've been searching for...
at a price I can totally get behind.

Wouldn't this just glow in a dim room?!
